Have you ever been to a place and felt like you’re home?
How does Nutopia look like? We don’t know but we are creating a place where this concept is applied. And we don’t think that we are there yet. It is about making this world a better place, taking into account where we are and where we wanna go. We consider ourselves as a family and we want to know you, not just by your name.
“Citizenship of the country can be obtained by declaration of your awareness of NUTOPIA. NUTOPIA has no land, no boundaries, no passports, only people. NUTOPIA has no laws other than cosmic.”
Having a restaurant is fun but we want it to be more than that. We read about Nutopia and fell in love with the concept. Founded by John Lennon “Nutopia” stands for a country with equal rights for everyone.
We were looking for a place to rent. But there were only very few options - by accident did we bump into the landlord. She agreed upon our idea and we started with our concept in mind. The place needed a major facelift but the floor plan gave us an idea of how the whole place could look like. The surrounding mango trees already created a wholesome atmosphere.
We hired local professionals to do the pipes, electrical work and setting up the bathrooms. In the meantime we got our hands dirty with painting and finding a carpenter who could help us with the interior design.
While the workers continued to expand the interior, we thought about what the menu could look like. Something that corresponds to the flair of Mazunte, healthy options that are not too heavy on the stomach but also Mexican specialties with a certain reference to the sea.
While we were working, we came up with the idea for a terrace. In a wooden design with a view of the central square in Mazunte. And we wanted plants all over the place. Basically we were focusing on tons of details in roder to light up the place!
